2 Feb. Really strange phenomenon in the sky, for hours, all over on top of our place.
I took lots of photos and we were wondering if it was a kind of ‘aurora’, but actually it must be ‘nacreous’ according to the explanation give in ‘the Irish TImes” .

Tue, Feb 2, 2016, 09:40…  ［…］These rainbow clouds – or nacreous to give them their scientific name – first began appearing in skies as far apart as Dublin, Galway and Belfast on Monday morning and as Tuesday dawned they reappeared across the country.［…］The iridescent clouds are a diffraction phenomenon caused by low winter sunlight bouncing off small ice crystals in the clouds and scattering the light to create a similar to rainbows although in a much weirder pattern.［…］While the explanation is disappointingly simple, the event is still something of a rarity in Ireland as clouds have to be at just the right height, contain just the right amount of wispiness – not the technical term – and need to be hit at exactly the right angle by the sun. They are mostly to be seen in the hour after dawn and the hour before sunset and are most common in the winter months closer to the North Pole.

2 février. Le ciel matinal était couleurs d’arc-en-ciel, on dirait de larges rideaux qui changaient graduellement de forme… en plus le phénomène a duré relativement longtemps. J’ai donc fait plein de photos! Au départ on se demandait si c’était une sorte d’aurora, mais non, l’aurora apparaît seulement dans un ciel nocturne…

 et plus tard dans la journée, on en parlait dans des journaux irlandais – eh oui les gens ont observé partout dans le pays! – et ils ont donné l’explication (citée ci-dessus) que c’est ce qu’on appelle ‘nuages nacrés’.  J’avais déjà vu en Autriche quelque chose qui ressemble à ça mais en plus petite dimention(cliquer ici),  et cette fois-ci c’était vraiment impressionnant!!

2月2日の朝、いつものように空を眺めてビックリ仰天。　虹色の大きな半透明のカーテンみたいな雲が、天空いっぱいに広がっていました。
少しずつ形を変えながらも、虹のようにすぐに消えてしまったりせずに、ずっと見えるのです。
そんなわけで、いっぱい写真を撮りましたが、全体の大きさ美しさがとらえきれずに、ビデオも撮ってみました。ほんとに不思議な、神秘的な空でした。
そのうち陽がのぼってきても空のうえのほうにまだ、虹色が残っていました。
なにかなあ〜　オーロラみたいだね、でもオーロラは夜空だけに見えるはず・・・彩雲かな？・・・と話していたら、そのうちアイルランドの新聞にも取り上げられていました。「真珠母雲 (nacreous)」というものかなと思いますが・・・。
そういえば、オーストリアでもいちど見たことがあります。もっとずっと小さいサイズでした。
