(Still talking about our trip to France, in Sept) First time to get onto a ferry.
… No, actually, we were taking a ferry to go to Ile of Mull from Oban in Scotland, where we went back 3 summers for our small get away. It must have been there we developed really our taste for ‘out into the wild nature and really calm, nobody and no noise but birds and sea’. But anyway, first time to go to continental european side this way, since we live in Ireland!
Interesting experience and we now know it’s better idea to bring something to eat (small ‘bento’) rather than try and hope their restaurant might be all right (got there, it was not). The cabine, however, was very comfortable and it was lovely to cross the sea this way!

(C’est encore l’histoire de notre voyage en France, en septembre…) Première expérience de monter à bord de ce gigantesque ferry depuis que nous sommes en Irelande. Avant on prenait un (relativement) petit ferry (tout est relatif!) pour aller de Oban à l’Ile de Mulle en Écosse, où on a passé nos petites vacances d’été trois ans de suite (c’était peut-être là vraiment qu’on a cultivé notre goût pour un endroit sauvage, très nature), mais depuis que nous habitons en Irelande, on a toujours voyagé en avion pour passer du côté continental, disons. Et ce ferry ‘Oscar Wild’ est comme un hôtel qui voyage! La cabine est super confort et j’ai beaucoup aimé aller sur le pont et regarder le soleil arriver sur l’océan. Les restaurants ne sont pas terribles (donc ‘bentô’ à préparer.)
Et puis à l’approche du port, vous avez un guide, qui vient sauter littéralement sur le ferry.

（９月にフランスへ行った話の続き）　車のまま船に乗りこむフェリーの旅は、何年も前にバーニーがドイツに住んでいたころ、夏休みにスコットランドでオーバンからモール島へ渡ったりしたことがあるけど、フェリーのなかで泊まったのは今度が初めて。
どんな旅になるかな〜？と興味津々でした。
キャビンはふつうのホテルの部屋のよう。ベッドもなかなか寝心地良く、シャワーも熱いお湯がちゃんと出るし、通路をたどって外に出ると、広い海を見渡せて気持ち良かった。
中にカフェやパブやレストランもあるけど、行きがけに試してみた結果は、食べるものは持って行ったほうがいいよねということになりました。次はお弁当持ちかなあ。

フランスへ車のまま行けるなんて（それは時間はかかるけど）ほんとに便利すぎて、病みつきになりそう。
ただしフランシュコンテまで行くのは、なかなか遠くてホネでした。片道８００km。西側をうろちょろするのが良さそう。
