Well I am now starting to get some contact with people here and I was a bit busy the whole week.
The ‘key’ person is J-P and his father Colm G. Colm took me every Sunday to the church (I had no car to drive yet, so he very kindly came to pick me up), started introducing me to people etc… then he proposed to go to this walk, organised by ‘Historical Society’ for ‘Heritage Week’: it’s called ‘Hidden History Walk on Wicklow Uplands‘.
Very nice long walk, on Sunday 18 August, crossing some area usually not open.
At each ‘interesting point’ they stopped and talked (or had a reading) about local ‘hidden’ history: for example ‘this guy  escaped but eventually they (who?) chopped his head off and this is the stone bridge he was hanging down …’ or ‘the Normans came here and X (couldn’t catch the name) build a castle which we can’t see from here, there are lots of plants‘ or ‘ on the location the waterwheel stands, there was Y (couldn’t catch… sorry!) and at some stage they had a plan to empty the area of water, but then change of plan, a reservoir was to be build… and then the project was shelved…‘ etc etc.  So – you have already guessed that I was listening really carefully… but could follow perhaps 5 % of the story!!
Still never mind!! It was so nice to walk outside in a relaxed ambiance, have a small chat with Colm, Josette (his daughter) and some other ladies.

もう８月もおしまいですね。アイルランドに引っ越して１ヶ月半、そろそろ　こちらでも近所に知りあいが少しずつできてきました。
まったくの偶然で、実は引っ越して来た家のすぐそばに、bjmの仕事のパートナーJPさんが住んでいて、その実家のお父さん、お母さんとも知りあいになり・・・　特に　そのお父さんのコロムさんがいっしょうけんめい、sachanをいろんなところへ連れて行ってくれました。日曜日はわざわざ迎えに来て教会へ連れてってくれたり（最初のうちはオートマの車がまだなかったから、自分で運転できないしね）・・・　「歴史研究会の田舎歩きがあるから、いっしょに参加しよう」と誘ってくれて、いっしょに行ったり、bjmが出張中もにお呼ばれして家族いっしょに夕飯をごちそうになったり。そして、自分でも両隣のひとに挨拶に行ってお茶したりを、始めました。教会で会った女のひとたちのグループが誘ってくれて、散歩にいっしょに行ったり。・・・そんなふうに、いろんなイベントがあって、「牛もーもーだけ見てる」状態から一歩前進。田舎生活にもだんだんとメリハリがついてきたみたいです。

まず、８月１８日に行った「歴史研究会の田舎歩きツアー」の様子です。「ウイックロー高原の隠れた歴史を発見する」と題した、このお散歩ツアー。最初はミニバスで村の中心から、何kmか離れたところの「ノルマン人が侵入してきたころに建設された城跡」のところまで運ばれていきました。３０人ぐらいの参加者があって、大所帯。年配のひと（おじいちゃま世代のコロムさん）から若いカップルまで、いろんな人がいます。ところどころで止まっては「ここの石橋は１７世紀（？）に（だれそれさん？）が首を切られてしまった場所で（・・・残り聴き取れず）」とか、「水車のあった場所に昔は（なんとか）があった（はあ・・・）そして湿地帯だったので水を汲み出して農地にしようという計画があったが、そのあと一転してダム建設計画が持ち上がり（そりゃ正反対ですがな）しかし計画は頓挫して現在に到る（ダムになってたら散歩できなかったネ）」とか、「ここの城跡はx世紀にノルマン人が来たときに（だれそれさん）が築いたものですが今は植物が生い茂っているので、ここからは見られません」とか。

「はあ〜・・・　　細かいところはよくわかんなかったけど〜、古くから、いろいろあった土地なんですね〜」という雰囲気だけ味わいながら（笑）　おじいちゃまや、娘さんのジョゼットさんとおしゃべりしたりしながら、空気を吸い込んで青空の下を、ひたすら「てくてく」歩いてきましたよ。（つづく）

La vie de tous les jours d’ici se développe d’un seul coup de façon assez spectaculaire depuis quelques temps.  J’ai tous les jours quelque chose qui se produit, qui entraîne un autre événement, une autre rencontre, une découverte… ça n’arrête pas! C’est pour ça que mon blog est très en retard et j’ai plein de photos à vous montrer, plein d’histoires à vous raconter.

Ici on est tombé tout à fait par hasard très près du collègue de Bernie. Il nous a présenté ses parents et le papa G, un monsieur très gentil, m’a proposé de participer à une promenade organisée par ‘Local Historical Society’. C’était archi drôle, car pendant la balade – qui a duré plusieurs heures d’ailleurs- de temps à autres on s’arrête et ils nous font la lecture des ‘histoires cachées de l’endroit’, genre ‘un certain monsieur x s’est fait décapiter sur ce pont’ etc… Ils parlent à toute vitesse et ils ont aussi cet accent irlandais dont je n’ai vraiment pas l’habitude, avec des noms des villages inconnnus pour moi… c’est pourquoi je capte au mieux environ 5%, mais l’important est de participer, n’est-ce pas?
C’était vraiment un très bel après-midi dehors, super sympa, on a parcouru des prés et des chemins, j’ai bien respiré!
